All associated with the Second XV would like to start by thanking Sharon and all her staff for all their hard work during the season. We would also like to offer our congratulations to the other senior teams on their successful campaigns.
The Second XV have this season continued to build on last years success, but have suffered due to other teams not ful lling xtures. We are proud of the fact that we have have not cancelled a single xture over the past 2 seasons due to lack of players which proves we have a core of committed players which hopefully will continue to grow.
We now have a very good blend of older experienced players and also younger players, who are continuing to improve all the time, and at this stage, the future is looking bright for the Club.
We have also managed to integrate some of the Youth boys into Senior rugby during some
of our xtures this year which again is a positive step in the right direction with our player development and strength in depth within the Club.
Our captain Mitch has lead from the front both on and off the eld but I would also like to thank Matty for stepping in as captain in Mitch’s absence due to his promotion to the First XV. This season we played 16 xtures, winning 10 and losing 6. Matty Watkins was the highest points scorer with 81 points and Josh Millichap our highest try scorer with 9 tries.
We have created a bit of history for the club this season by managing to win our league which
I think is the rst time a Second XV team from within our club has won a Divisional title.
Thanks to all my fellow coaches and volunteers for their help throughout the season and of course all the players who have contributed to a great season. I look forward to the coming season and continuing to see improvements in our squad as we face new challenges in a new league.
