The limo pulled a slow right turn and came to a
halt on the Venetian Bridge.
Beneath us gondoliers punted to and fro in a man-
made cement lake on aquamarine water between red
and white candy-striped poles. Above us ornate
mosaic arches in grey and pink and a life-size replica of
the iconic bell tower of St Mark's Basilica in Venice.
I reached into my shoulder bag and took out a copy
of my book Convince Them in 90 Seconds or Less.
“Here. For you.” I edged forward and offered up
the book.
“Will you sign it?”
“Of course.” I rested the book on my knee and the
driver turned around to face me.
“It’s Julia right?” I said.
“Right.” I hesitated. “I’m Nick.”
“Yes. I know.” She smiled. “Mister Boothman. I
Google all my rides.”
I opened the cover and on the half title page wrote
‘For Julia. Find your purpose. Free your spirit. Change
the world.’ and signed it.
