He fidgeted with a piece of paper, his hands
shaking slightly.
"The stats are crazy - 32% of people have never
even met their neighbors, and 27% feel like nobody
understands them. And the worst part is, our
generation is the loneliest one yet."
Anwar's voice broke as he spoke, his hand on his
heart.
"We can't just ignore the pain and helplessness
that's making us OD and stuff. We need to talk about
it, we need to listen to each other."
The sad little figure at the center of the stage
pleaded to the audience.
“Speak up if you’re lonely.”
He bit his lips together and waited.
“Like my sister Fatima…” Anwar tried in vain to
bring his emotions under control.
“Speak up if you want to. My name is Anwar. And
I’ll listen to you.”
