Eamon Larkin sitting in the second row had his
Kleenex out pretending to clean his glasses. Time stood
still for a few moments. Then Catwoman ran on stage,
took the mike from Anwar’s hand and hugged him.
Anwar returned to his seat going out of his way to
high five Pargash on the way.
Cassidy Cox was back at the podium. “Jesus. I
never expected this,” she said to herself realizing all
too late the podium mike was right in front of her
picking up her every word. She reached out to cover it
with her hand, but not in time to stop her next gem
being broadcast. “Oh crap.” Which was immediately
followed by a piercing squeal of feedback as her hand
covered the mike. At least the audience didn’t hear her
round it off with “buggar.”
Students erupted in giggles, half the adults closed
their eyes and the rest bounced merrily in their seats.
“Oh dear,” said the Principal, “right. Thank you
Anwar for your heartfelt appeal. And now our final
student today is Selina Malik to convince us all about
stranger danger.”
Principal Cox turned to the row of presenters and
