Find Your Style
What is your current look saying about you? Is your image at
work what you want it to be? Here are seven questions you
should ask yourself about the way you dress for work.
1. Do I look like a professional in the eye of the beholder?
Attention to detail makes you look like a professional.
If you look professional, you often feel professional.
There are many business cultures where being
immaculate is considered the hallmark of the warrior.
Tip: A monochromatic color scheme is the most
sophisticated way of dressing. Proof positive—Giorgio
Armani has made a fortune dressing people this way.
Wearing different shades of the same palette is soothing.
2. Does my grooming match my wardrobe?
Is your hair clean and well-cut? Are your nails neat and
tidy? Do you smell too much of perfume or cologne—or,
worse, not enough deodorant? And remember, even the
smell of secondhand smoke can torpedo you.
3. Is my clothing well-maintained?
Attention to detail is key. Are your clothes properly
pressed? No spots, no loose threads, no loose buttons?
Are your shoes polished? Would you wear it
on TV—close-up?
4. Are my clothes out-of-date?
Some clothes go out of style faster than others. You can
