Find the Right
Approach
We’ve spent a lot of time so far learning how
to verbally and nonverbally make meaningful
connections with other people. We’ve also
looked at how to artfully craft ideas and objectives into
convincing messages. Now it’s time to consider the actual
route you will use to deliver these messages. It’s all very
well and good to make people feel trusting and receptive
toward you and your ideas, but if you don’t deliver them
with the right approach, it can all be a terrific waste of
time and opportunity.
There are many ways you can eat noodles—with a
fork, with chopsticks, or with your fingers, to name but
three. There are many ways to deliver good news—by fax,
by skywriting, or in person. And there are many ways to
find a job—through the want ads, on the Internet, or by
building networks. The number of approaches is as large
