           Miss March Speaks to Classes at LCCTCC

       Ms.  Kyra  March,  daughter  of  Ms.  Shanta  Mungin,  visited  the  Lee  County  Career
       and   Technology   Center's   Business   Education   and   Family   and   Consumer
       Sciences Programs on Monday, January 13, 2020.  Kyra March is a sophomore at
       Harvard College from Darlington, South Carolina. She graduated from Darlington
       High   School   and   Florence   Darlington   Technical   College   with   her   high   school
       diploma  and  Associate  of  Arts  degree  in  2018,  where  she  was  Valedictorian  and
       also  graduated  Summa  Cum  Laude.  Throughout  high  school,  Kyra  participated
       in  numerous  extracurricular  activities,  held  many  leadership  positions,  and  spent
       over   200   hours   on   community   service.   Activities   and   positions   include   Varsity
       Cheerleading   Captain,   National   Honor   Society   Secretary,   Beta   Club   President,
       Key   Club   Editor,   and   more.      She   has   also   participated   in   a   variety   of   summer
       programs,   like   At   the   Well   Leadership   Academy   at   Princeton   University,
       Washington   Youth   Tour,   SC   Business   Week,   and   Business   at   Moore   at   the
       University  of  South  Carolina.  Kyra  has  a  history  of  and  love  for  public  speaking,
       serving  as  Commencement  Speaker  at  Darlington  High  School  and  Darlington
       Middle  School’s  graduations  in  2018  and  being  the  guest  speaker  for  Darlington
       County’s All ‘A’ Banquet. She has also met with hundreds of students throughout
       the  Pee  Dee  area  to  talk  about  her  experience  at  Harvard  and  her  journey.  Kyra
       plans  on  pursuing  a  joint  concentration  in  African  American  Studies  and  Women
       and  Gender  Studies  in  hopes  of  becoming  a  professor,  and  she  has  served  as  a
       Research   Assistant   at   the   Hutchins   Center   for   African   and   African   American
       Research   and   as   a   Hometown   Recruiter   for   the   Undergraduate   Minority
       Recruitment  Program  while  there.  At  Harvard,  she  serves  as  Sisterhood  Chair  for
       the   Association   of   Black   Harvard   Women,   a   Teaching   Fellow   for   the   Du   Bois
       Society, and Co-Captain for her dance group, Omo Naija x The Wahala Boys.
