PLAYERS


               The privilege of being a member of AYO comes with expectations regarding professional standards of
               performance and behaviour.  The mission of AYO is to train young musicians in the skills of orchestral
               playing; developing professional attitudes and behaviours is part of that training.

                                                   Membership Policy
               Every musician who successfully auditions and pays their annual subscription fee is a member of the AYO
               incorporated society and, as such, is eligible to vote to appoint an Executive Committee and Players’
               Representatives at the Annual General Meeting.

               Each member is expected:
                     To meet the highest achievable artistic standards of musicianship.
                     Conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times during rehearsals, performances and any
                      other AYO functions and tours.
                     To comply with AYO’s concert performance dress code
                     To assist with orchestral set up, packing in/out of orchestral instruments and equipment,
                      fundraising and concert promotion as required
                     Arrive at least 15 minutes before rehearsals
                     Commit to the rehearsal/concert schedule provided and to apply for leave if unable to attend a
                      rehearsal.
                     To compensate AYO for reasonable expenses in hiring another player to replace them (for up to
                      two rehearsals and the concert) if less than three weeks’ notice is given of being unable to perform
                      in a concert.
                     To conduct relationships within the Orchestra in a respectful way that is appropriate to a team
                      environment and to the goals and aims of the Orchestra.
                     To reimburse AYO for the cost of lost or damaged music parts or folders
                     To comply with tour restrictions re smoking & alcohol and with safety conditions for U18  players

               Players absent from a rehearsal without leave, may be required to complete an Artistic Assessment.
               AYO will not share personal contact information with others unless authorised.

                Behaviour Protocol:
               All members must abide by the behaviour protocol which has been developed to allow for personal
               responsibility and freedom, as well as addressing issues of safety, leadership and community responsibility.
               In the case of serious or repeated offending, players may be demoted or dismissed from the orchestra.

               Definitions:
               1.  The ‘orchestra environment’ includes: rehearsal and performance venues, any location where an
                   orchestra event is scheduled,  transportation and accommodation organised by the AYO
               2.  An ‘orchestra event’ includes rehearsals, concerts, meetings and functions.

               The following conduct is prohibited in the orchestra environment:
                     Bullying or harassment in any form
                     Being intoxicated
                     The use or possession of illicit drugs
                     Violence or the use or possession of offensive weapons
                     Any other conduct stipulated by orchestra environment providers
