Rome. But so self-confident was the queen

and shall see no sorrow. “Come down, and sit
in the dust, O virgin daughter of Babylon, sit
on the ground.... Thy nakedness shall be
uncovered, yea, thy shame shall be seen: I will
take vengeance.... Thou shalt no more be
called, The lady of kingdoms.”
The wounding of the head of the beast in 1798,
the beginning of the time of the end,
dethroned the woman for a time, but she was
the mother of harlots, and the education, as
well as the hereditary tendencies of her
children, has enabled them, although in many
ways restricted, to continue the practices of
the mother. To each of the kingdoms of
Europe, the Reformation came as a light and
