not seek after it, but it was sent in search of
him. God rejoices to bestow this grace upon
every man who hungers for it. “Blessed are
they which do hunger and thirst after
righteousness; for they shall be filled”
(Matthew 5:6).
To all He presents terms of mercy, not
because man is worthy, but because he is
utterly unworthy. Man’s need is the
qualification which gives him the assurance
that he shall receive this gift of grace. By
receiving it, and letting it work in his life, he
testifies to the validity of the law; he exalts
the law and makes it honorable by carrying
out its living principles through the power of
the grace of Christ.
Grace implanted in man’s heart
creates in him enmity against Satan.
Without this converting grace and
renewing power, man would continue
to be a captive of Satan, his servant
ever ready to do his bidding.
