divine soul of the world's Redeemer. He who

knew no sin became sin for us that we might

be made the righteousness of God in Him. In

assuming the nature of man, He placed

Himself where He was wounded for our

               transgressions, bruised for our iniquities,

that by His stripes we might be healed”{TMK

               66}.

For our sakes He became poor so

through His poverty we might be made

                          rich.

He laid aside His glory and majesty.

He walked the earth unrecognized with

but few exceptions by His creatures.

His lot was poverty and humiliation.

                           He relieved the sick.

                           He lifted up the depressed.

The greatest of the nation passed Him

                          by with disdain.

He yielded up His life as a sacrifice that

                          we should not eternally die.

He was pierced for our sins.

He was crushed for our iniquities.

He humbled Himself even unto death.
