But if by the power of the Holy Spirit, you
stop giving in to your sinful selves and doing
the wicked things you’re doing, you will live.
14 Those who are guided by the Spirit of God
are the sons of God. The Holy Spirit does
15
not enslave us and make us fear. But through
the Holy Spirit God has adopted us and
claimed us as His own. With our deepest
emotion we may call Him Father. The Spirit
16
Himself, with our new spirit, confirms that
we truly are God’s children. If we’re God’s
17
children, then we’re His heirs and fellow
heirs with Christ, provided we are willing to
share in the struggles and suffering which
Christ also had while living in this sinful
world. And if we share in His sufferings, we
will also share in His glory. The self-denial,

temptations and sufferings that we go
through because we’re Christians are not
even worth mentioning when compared with
the glory that God will bestow on us when He
comes. 19 In fact, creation itself is eagerly
waiting for the time when God will show the
world who His sons and daughters really are.
