THE STORY OF THE SEER OF PATMOS

                                             Stephen N. Haskell

                 “Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: for the time is at
                                              hand” Revelation 22:10.

               of Mohammedanism; in the West, it was the

               papacy.

               At last the earth itself grew weary of the evil.

               God broke the power of the tyranny. He raised

               up rulers who opposed the power of the

               papacy, and who espoused the cause of the

               reformers, and sheltered them from the

               anathemas hurled after them. This was

               especially true among the German princes at

               the Diet of Spires, and the same spirit

               characterized William of Orange in the

               Netherlands, and some of the English rulers;

               and the help which the earth gave, was seen

               especially in the refuge offered to the

               persecuted souls on the shores of America.
