brethren is cast down, which accused them
before our God day and night.” Wonderful
triumph! One loses much of the force of
Christ’s life, unless he sees the actual triumph
at the cross. He who had given up His power
and His strength, taking human weakness
instead, and “trodden the winepress alone”
regained all at the cross.
The life of Christ as a man, formed the
strongest bonds between angels and human
beings, so that in heaven, men are spoken of as
“our brethren.” “They overcame him by the
blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their
testimony, “and in their love for Christ, they
willingly sacrificed life itself.” “Rejoice, ye
