               as the cross was approached, the pain which


               pierced  them  was  akin  to  that  of  their



               suffering Master.



               Jesus,  sitting  in  the  temple  court  but  a  few


               days  before  the  end,  looked  forward  to  the


               cross, and with feelings too deep for human


               heart to sense, said, “Now is the judgment of


               this world: now shall the prince of this world


               be cast out.” At the cross, the fate of Satan was


               forever sealed. “I, if I be lifted up, will draw all


               unto Me.” Darkness covered Calvary on that


               awful day, but the eye of faith could pierce the


               cloud; for the hour that seemed the darkest,


               was,  for  the  universe,  the  hour  of  greatest


               victory.  “At  the  cross  of  Calvary  love  and


               selfishness stood face to face. Here was their


               crowning manifestation. Christ had lived only
