until He come whose right it is.” Ezekiel 21:27.
And again, “Jerusalem shall be trodden down
of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles
be fulfilled.” Luke 21:24. Of like import is the
prophecy of Daniel 8:13: “How long the
vision... to give both the sanctuary and the
host to be trodden under foot?” Who gives
them to this condition? — God. Why? — To
discipline; to “purify and make white” his
people. How long? — Till the sanctuary is
cleansed.
VERSE 8. And I heard, but I understood not:
then said I, O my Lord, what shall be the end
of these things? 9. And he said, Go thy way,
Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed
