CHAPTER 10 - GRANDCHILDREN AND GREAT - GRANDDAUGHTERS AND MY SPORTING PHILOSOPHY
follow her around on the soccer scene and I did have high hopes that she would reach State level, but then other things interfered such as education. She did do quite a lot of coaching and I can see that if she gets an opportunity at a school, she will be putting her hand up as the soccer coach. She stands no nonsense and expects everyone to meet her high expectations.
Thomas
Thomas the younger of the boys, is quite amazing when you consider what he was like as a young lad and you look at him today as a strapping lad, growing up to manhood. He is still at school in his final year and plays soccer for the first team which is a huge accolade, given he has had to work extremely hard to get where he is today. He also plays league soccer at a high level but he did not like cricket.
I must admit when he told me he was going to play cricket, I went out and bought him everything imaginable and I pitched up to the
first game and I could see just what he was like, he has no patience and, as such, the first ball had to go over the fence and the next ball perhaps he wasn’t there. Anyway, pleased to see that he looks after himself, always at the gym and I think he fancies himself as a ladies’ man. Not slow in coming forward.
Thomas is good to have around the house, he is good to have, although he does have a tendency to disappear when there is any work to be done However, if there’s heavy lifting to be done and he is around he is in high demand as he likes weight lifting.
Dad is always looking for him and probably as I write this, he is still looking for him.
