The End of an Era (Farewell 2020) It is never easy saying "Goodbye' and when you have the
opportunity to bid adieu to the place which has been your second homefor years and in some
cases decades, the task seems nearly impossible to complete. in that moment, you are
rendered of the ability to accept that all of this is for 'one Last time'.
So with their hearts heavy with the anticipation of the inevitable, and donning dazzling
sarees & handsomely forma[ tuxedos, the students entered the premises of Rajendra
Vidyalaya with smiles on their faces & a promise to themselves to enjoy it to the fullest 'one
Last time', at the Farewell 2020.
The event started off with the usual lamp-lighting ceremony and a very motivational speech
from our beloved Principal Ma'am. The host of the event was our lovely and hardworking,
Swati Mahato (12 C) who managed to make the audience revisit the nostalgic highs and
Lows of being the students of RV. The cheerful reminiscence of even the earliest childhood
school memories, Like distributing sweets with best-friends during birthdays, to some
memories which might be quite recent, like a hanging out with Shankar's Samosa, really
managed to Lift up the spirits of everyone in the audience, whether it be students or the
teachers.
The Digital Club of RV presented an amazing throwback video made very artistically, while
the Cultural Club presented the glorious cultural programme for the occasion. It was started
of with a bang by Anupam Bhadra performing a rap song dedicated to the school written by
him! There was also a colourfully brilliant dance performance presented by the junior class
students for their predecessors. But the juniors weren't the only ones participating in the
fun. The seniors also took to the stage. The class representatives spoke to express their
gratitude, to reminiscence on their nostalgia and to honor their memories. The band
members also sang and played their "Swan Song' for our school.
There were many emotional moments and some funny moments. lts safe to say that
everyone enjoyed themselves. But at the same time they didn't hesitate to let their tears
show as well. The seniors were given mementos in recognition of their good work. Then the
Badge Handing Ceremony began. It was time to pass the crown. One-by-one the students of
the present 12 std were announced as the respective head of the Student Body Council. They
accepted this privilege with their heads held high and their flags held even higher on that
note the programme ended. But the end for the others didn't mean the end for the seniors.
They'd further go on to enjoy their Last time together inside the school premises.
They'd eat together, write messages on each others T-Shirts and dance on the rhythmic beat
of the DJ together. But all good things come to an end one way or another. With the fading
last note, of the last song of the night, RV Batch 2019-2020 closed a VERY important chapter
in their books.
