6 WILLIAM CAPE NEWS, SPRING 2021
Meet Muriel Jones
Hello I’m Muriel Jones I was born in the capital
of Wales, Cardiff, I was an only child. I attended
school until the age of 15 then was employed
at a solicitor’s office as a typist. Later I worked
at a furniture store and then a Manchester
store as a secretary where I was responsible for
the cash box.
I met John and we married and then we
decided we would migrate to another country
as everyone was asking for migrants. We tried
New Zealand first but were declined, so we
applied for Australia and was accepted. In 1964
we headed to Australia (which I am most proud
of). We had family in the Northern Territory so
we stayed with them until we established
ourselves.
In Australia I had employment as a vacuum
For The Diary sales person and also a typist. We came to the
coast in 1989 and lived in Chain Valley Bay/
Summerland Point area, I have great friends,

and neighbours and consider myself a very
sociable person.
