Meet the team

Niraj Kharel

Executive Chef

This spring we are focusing our attention on the
person behind the kitchen, food and beverage
team at Bayswater Gardens – our Executive Chef,
Niraj Kharel.

Niraj came from a creative background when he
was overseas, working as a Graphic Designer for a
firm in Asia before his passion changed to cooking
and teaching. Coming to Australia for the first
time in 2007, he studied commercial cookery in
TAFE before his other passion kicked in which was
travelling. With his new-found skillset, Niraj
travelled quite extensively to regional NSW and
along the way working in aged care homes, RSL &
golf clubs to gain extensive experience before
joining Bayswater Gardens in March 2022.

Teaching is his other passion which has
dramatically transformed the kitchen team. Niraj
has provided guidance and also creative flair to
the residents’ meals with seasonal changes and
tasty treats especially when residents and their
families plan an event here at Bayswater Gardens.

Niraj hobbies are playing competitive soccer
locally and teaching. His favourite team is
Manchester United and he is keen to travel to the
UK when time permits. Niraj also wants to further
his education by studying teaching in the next few
years.

Niraj is married and has a beautiful daughter and
is enjoying his time catering to the needs to our
lovely residents.
