Clive was born on 1 February 1918 – he is almost 100! He has seen so

5 January Mickey H. great deal of it. He was born in the New England region in NSW in the
tiny country town of Bendemeer.

8 January Valerio G. He went to High School in Tamworth where he excelled as a
10 January Pamela R. sportsman. He was Junior Athletics Champion and Captain of Rugby
League. Once when he played Cricket for Tamworth and was 100 not

Clive joined the Bank of NSW (now Westpac) when he left school and

was a loyal staff member for all his working life. He started his career
1 February Clive C. in Guyra then moved to Dungog. Barraba and Bingara followed before
6 February Alex R. he moved to Sydney after the War.
20 February Warren N. He was very sociable and was always organising social events in every
branch he moved to. For the latter part of his career he was Manager
of the Auditing Department for NSW.
During the war years he was stationed in several areas. He was in
Darwin when it was bombed and also in Newcastle when it was
shelled. He was on watch in Newcastle when the first shell was fired
over Newcastle and was responsible for alerting Headquarters that
they were under attack. He was about to be sent to and unknown
destination overseas when the War was declared over.
He married Phyllis just after World War II and they had three children.
They were happily married until Phyllis died in 2002 aged 80. He loved his home and his family. Clive was a devoted
husband and a wonderful father to his three children. He now has five grandchildren and six great grandchildren who all
adore him. Clive lived at Epping for 65 years where he had a beautiful home and garden.
A very keen musician, Clive played the Saxophone, Clarinet and Piano. He used his musical skills to entertain the troups
during the war and in later years to play for his Aged Care group at Epping and at the Nursing Home where his wife
Phyllis was cared for. In his youth he was instrumental in forming bands made up of members from the local country
communities in which he worked.
He has always taken a great interest in other people and their lives and is very sociable and diplomatic.
Clive has lived happily at Lansdowne Gardens for the past two and a half years.
