Guest Photographer
Meet Bev Powell
Bev is a resident at Cranbrook Residences and a keen
photographer capturing elusive moments of elevation.
"I am by no means an expert photographer, but I am enjoying my
journey of discovery and learning. There are, of course, many other
types of moments to capture and I will continue to be mindful, to seek
pleasure in the everyday and to find surprising moments of elevation in
my photography."
Moments of Joy (Above) - These moments are captured spontaneously.
They may not be perfectly executed, but they exude the emotions of the
moment. This photograph, for me, captures the sense of joy, freedom
and fun of an impromptu train and ferry adventure to Lago d’Iseo in
Italy.
Moments of Mindfulness (Top Left) - Mindful or slow photography is
created twice – once in the mind and once through the camera lens,
considering lighting, colour, angle and focus. My aim with this
photograph was to capture the kaffir lime in sharp focus, whilst blurring
the background.
Moments of Beauty (Left Middle) - When we slow down, expand our
minds and widen our vision, we notice myriad details around us. Simply
walking down the pathway at Cranbrook Residences, I was struck by the
startling beauty of dewdrops on the foliage.
Moments of Wonder (Bottom Left) - When you round the corner to the
Jewish Square in Maribor, Slovenia, you can’t help but wonder: What do
these figures represent? Who created them? What emotions are evoked
by these figures? What message was the sculptor trying to convey? With
my curiosity piqued, I consulted the internet to find that this work is
“Five Organic Perils” and was created by Marijan Mirt.
