The Habitat model works
because it is designed to be a
sustainable, graduated, solution.
SELF- Families apply and are selected
based on their overall need as
well as their ability to repay a
RELI ANCE zero equivalent mortgage. Their
monthly payments then go on to
our revolving fund to help
another family in need.
When you're supporting homeownership, you're supporting a family's entire well-being. Families who own
their homes statistically earn more, do better in school, and go on to complete higher levels of education.
Habitat programs do not give families homes, we give families the opportunity to build their homes.

VOLUNTEERS VOLUNTEERS HOURS
Our volunteers are the heart and soul of our
organization, and the support of volunteer labor
is crucial in our mission to build affordable
housing solutions. Volunteer groups (like Hands
& Hammers pictured to the right) make a
difference by picking up a hammer and changing
a family's life. Often, volunteers gain as much or
more from the building experience than the
families they partner with. Our core group of
volunteer leaders, the Build Crew Chiefs, is
among our volunteers. This volunteer force
provides us with a never-ending source of Hands & Hammers
motivation, selflessness, and empowerment for
everyone on the job site. Our Home Repair Program is part of a
nationwide effort through Habitat for
Humanity to help low-income
homeowners maintain their homes
despite the financial difficulty. Most
qualified applicants are elderly, have a
disability, or are veterans who live on
a fixed or minimal income. Many are
forced to delay or cannot perform
maintenance creating an unsafe living
condition.
