An Interview with a Class Band Student!

1. When did you start playing the saxophone? What year are you in?
I started playing the saxophone in fifth grade, when I was 10, so I've been playing it for about 6
years.

2. Why did you choose the saxophone?
From the first moment I picked up the saxophone, I felt it was the right instrument for me.

3. Do you play another instrument?
No, but maybe in the future I would like to learn to play the electric bass or trumpet.

4. What do you like about the class band?
I started with the idea that I didn't want to play alone, and I still think that's the best thing about
it: besides the new friendships, the atmosphere that comes from creating a song together is ma-
gical, because everyone counts, everyone has a role that you can feel if you don't play.

5. Do you play/study at home and if so, how often?
There's work to be done at home too, but personally I see music more as freedom, so as soon as I
feel I need to free myself I start playing.

6. Do you sometimes play with others outside of class?
When I'm not in class, at home, I play with my younger brother.

7. Are there other people in your house who sing or play an instrument?
My younger brother plays the electric bass, my mum sings in the parish choir, but in general music
has always been very present at home since my childhood.
