As the academic year progresses from April to June and spring gives way to
summer, let’s take a moment to fill our hearts with gratitude, admiration and
respect for our mothers.
A mother's love is like no other as it is an endless well of strength, courage,
compassion and the fuel that enables us to do the impossible. The bond with
one's mother transcends words, time and distance and to celebrate the com-
fort, safety and unwavering support that we find in our mothers'
arms, Mother's Day is celebrated annually in May. A mother is not just a per-
son; she is the heartbeat of the family, the anchor of our souls whose arms are
made of tenderness and her heart is stitched with ribbons of love.
The different hats that mothers wear make her unique and unparalleled. So,
this year, let’s take a pledge to be a constant source of joy for her. Make her a
cup of coffee when she is tired, help her with the dishes and give her a hug and
smile when she needs it. She may be a mother hen (a protective mother), a
tiger mother (a strict and demanding mother) or you may be even tied to your
mother’s apron strings. After all, we learned so much when we were at our
mother’s knee. Even proverbs like ‘Necessity is the mother of invention’ and
‘Experience is the mother of wisdom’ reflect that mother is the pivot on which
our existence rests.
Just like our mother, Mother Earth smiles through sunshine, cries through
rainfall and screams through storms, braving odds and obstacles. She provides
her resources unconditionally, without any expectation showering her sun-
shine all over. So, if you are waking up to God’s morning star with your procre-
ator’s endearing radiant smile, you are blessed with the two joys of your life-
Mother and Mother Earth. So, be thoughtful of your actions and keep them well
protected in a blanket of care and comfort.
