leads to 3 tricks. Leading the Queen and finessing and you finish with 2.

        Answer 2.

West East To make 2 tricks
         Q 5 3 K 10 4

This time you should play small to the Queen in the west hand and
then small towards King, ten and, if North plays low, play the 10. You are
hoping for this sort of holding -
                       J 9 7

        Q 5 3 K 10 4
                       A 8 6 2

        Answer 3.
West East To make 3 tricks
         A 5 4 3 Q 10 9 8

Here we play for the opponents have one honour each (“split
honours”). We lead the 10 and, if South plays low we play low from West.
If this loses to the Jack we lead the queen next time and finesse against
the King. This gives us a 75% chance of making 3 tricks.

        Answer 4.
West East To make 3 tricks
         A 5 4 3 Q 10 6 2

Now we do not hold the 9 of the suit and so there is no finesse and
we resort to playing towards honours. Play the Ace and then small
towards the Queen. If North plays small then finesse by playing the 10.
