Answer 2.
           West East 3 5
         A Q 7 5 3 J 10 4

Here we have a very strong set of honours and we can afford to lead
the 10 (or the Jack) and take the finesse. This is the layout we need -

                       9 6 2
        A Q 7 5 3 J 10 4
                       K 8

Notice that if the King is with North we must lose a trick however we play
the suit. We have 1 quick trick by power, 2 slow trick by power, ( 3
certain), 1 possible trick by position and 2 possible tricks by length. (5
        possible).

        Answer 3.

           West East 2 5
         A Q 7 5 3 J 6 4

            This demonstrates a simple rule.
Unless a strong sequence is held, the lead of a high card should be avoided.

What? I hear you say. Well with the example given of -

                       10 9 2
        A Q 7 5 3 J 6 4
                       K 8

It is correct to lead small to the Queen and when that collects the 2
and the 8. We next play the Ace. 5 tricks so long as we have an entry in a
side suit. If we incorrectly lead the Jack West should play the King and
that promotes the 10 into a trick.
We have one quick trick by power, 1 slow trick by power, (2 certain
tricks), 1 possible trick by position and 2 possible tricks by length. (5
