the club and diamond gates as well.
Look what happens if we do not unguard the gates.
At trick two we play a spade. It does not matter what they do, they
can win it or not. We will keep playing spades until they win (or until we
have three tricks in the suit) and only then will we cash the Aces and
Kings in the other suits.
Okay then back to playing the hand
M Manage the play. We must lose to the ÍA as quickly as possible.
We will then have the tricks we need and we can cash them and
win the war.

We normally say that we need about 24 or 25 points to consider a
game contract but do not get too hidebound. Look at this hand -

Again, no need to do more we have enough tricks. I shall go game.
M Manage. We are okay even if they lead spades I shall win the third
round. So long as I play the ÊA as soon as I get in and then all the
clubs everything will be okay. (Honours from the short hand first).
