Chapter 3 - How do we play a hand?

            The play of a bridge hand is a battle! A battle
        between the declarer trying to make his tricks and the
        defenders trying to prevent them.
            What then, does a good general do when he enters
        the battle arena?
            He makes camp, or, in our case, he makes C. A. M. P. © Bridge Bug Ltd.

        What is C. A. M. P?

            We play the hands by remembering two
        things.
            First P. L. P. and then by using the acronym
        C. A. M. P.

        C - count your quick tricks by power in each suit and keep the total in
        your head.
        A - add to that your slow tricks by power, your possible tricks by length
        and position in each suit. There are then three situations.
        1. If the total comes to more than you need look for the safest
               option;
        2. If the total comes to exactly the number of tricks that you need
               hope everything is where you need it to be;
        3. If that total is less than you need hope that the opponents
               misdefend. Look confident and proceed.

        M - manage your entries. Consider the transport between the hand to
        ensure you get to your tricks and lead each suit from the correct hand.
        Also we remember -

        •      Lead towards honours;
        • Honours from the short hands first

        Note that this is the most difficult part of the planning.
