Manage. Okay, win the opening lead and draw their trumps hopefully in 3
rounds. We now play the hearts (honours from the short hand first)
throwing away a diamond from hand on the fifth heart. We can then
trump a diamond and trump a club in dummy after losing one.
We notice now that we make - 2 minor Aces, 5 hearts, 3 spades to draw
trumps, a club ruff and a diamond ruff. 12 in all and 480.
(Note that you might want to put these cards out and play them as
described as this is a very important idea).
Conclusion
Notice then, it is better to choose a trump suit that is 4-4 between the
two hands. This way, most of the time, we make 5 trumps tricks. Like
magic, isn’t it?
The hand demonstrates really well a useful fact.
Most of the time a 4-4 fit plays better
than a 5-3 fit.
