! Then work out whether or not you should make a suit trumps.
" Remember that game in notrump is only 9 tricks;
" Game in the majors (Ì or Í) is 10 tricks.
" Game in the minors (Ê or Ë) is 11 tricks.
! You now either make C. A. M. P for notrumps or keep C. A. L. M.
for trump contracts.

It is all too easy simply to play a card without thought but stopping
and making a plan using C. A. L. M. (for trump contracts) will pay
dividends in extra contracts made. So,
C Count your quick tricks by power. These are tricks the you can
make now. Just like notrump contracts
A Add tricks from other sources using P. L. P. Just like notrump
contracts.
L Loser check. See that you have not got too many play losers.
M Manage the hand. Considering the following
! Crossing from hand to hand,
! Honours from the short hand first,
! Lead towards honours.
! Of course do not forget to “guard your gates”.
! However, remember that you can use your excess trumps
to do that.

A final thought

Over the past 2 years or so I have been analysing trump contracts that fail
and could have been made. Almost every time they fail because the
declarer has not taken care of their losers.
