IV. ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
For learning to happen, whether in a traditional classroom setting (Face to Face) or in Distance Learning (DL), students,
teachers, and parents must work together. Each one has a unique role to play. These roles and responsibilities serve to
guide each one to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of distance learning. Students will be able to transition more
easily to the new structure and will be successful with learning if they receive strong support from their parents and
teachers.
In general, these are the expectations for teachers, students and parents:
A. STUDENTS – Distance learning is different from the traditional classroom setup. Thus, they need to be guided /helped to
become more aware of how to adapt in this distant and self-paced learning environment, to become independent,
responsible, and highly involved in their learning.
1. Attend classes on time and regularly.
2. Accomplish tasks and complete homework on time.
3. Be prepared for classes with all the necessary materials.
4. Manage time well.
5. Ask questions when something is not clear or not understood.
6. Schedule and/or attend extra encounters with teachers, if necessary.
7. Participate in formation activities such as Wellness Check-ins, mentoring, advisory period, etc.
8. Maintain good physical health through exercise, proper nutrition, and adequate sleep.
9. Follow procedures, rules and policies.
B. PARENTS and GUARDIANS – iPAUL recognizes the role of parents as the primary formators of their children. Parents
are the first teachers and value formators of their children. These roles are significantly important in the distant learning
environment and within the home setting. The collaboration between parents and teachers provides students greater
support and a nurturing environment which help further develop student’s strengths and address challenges that may
impede meaningful and successful learning.
1. Provide support to meet the minimum requirements of distance learning, esp. online learning.
2. Allot a learning space at home conducive for lessons and video conferencing.
3. Prepare for technical issues that may come up, esp. those with connectivity.
4. Reiterate to your child that distance learning is just as important as traditional face-to-face learning.
5. See that your child establishes a routine for working on his/her virtual classes daily.
6. Help your child maintain a regular study schedule.
7. Monitor your child’s pacing in completing his/her daily tasks for every subject for submission as their outputs and
participation to their Subject Teachers.
8. Coordinate with your child’s Class Adviser and Subject Teachers regarding submission of outputs and other
concerns.
9. Adult supervision/learning coach for Early Years (K to 3) for assistance in the navigation of the online learning
platforms.
10. Establish strict home rules on the device screen time.
11. Put safeguards on internet browsers and sites.
12. Impose student discipline in your household.
