Preface
Every child is a natural scientist— curious, observant, and full of questions about the world. The
Science Explorer series for Classes 1 to 8 builds upon this innate curiosity by offering an engaging and
thoughtful introduction to the world of science. Designed in alignment with the vision and
pedagogical approach of the National Curriculum Framework (NCF) 2023, the series aims to lay a
strong foundation in scientific thinking through joyful and meaningful learning that connects closely
with students' everyday experiences.
Science, at its core, is about curiosity, exploration, and understanding the world around us. This
series adopts a learner-centred approach, where children are encouraged to ask questions, observe,
discuss, and discover answers through guided activities and real-life examples. The textbooks
introduce scientific ideas in a simple, engaging, and developmentally appropriate manner that grows
in depth and complexity with each class.
In accordance with the NCF 2023, the content across the series is structured to begin with familiar
experiences and gradually move towards abstract thinking. Concepts are presented in a way that
supports continuity and progression, ensuring that learners revisit themes across grades with
increased depth and clarity. Care has been taken to ensure that students build not only factual
knowledge but also the ability to apply their understanding in practical and meaningful ways.
Each book in the series aims to integrate scientific learning with local context, allowing students to
relate what they learn in the classroom to what they observe in their homes, communities, and
natural environment. This connection makes science not just a subject to study, but a way of thinking
and living.
This series also supports classroom diversity by promoting inclusive learning practices. It provides
space for dialogue, reflection, and group work, making room for multiple perspectives and
encouraging cooperative learning.
Through this series, we hope to nurture in learners a lifelong interest in science, a respect for nature,
and the confidence to think critically and act responsibly. It is our sincere effort to support teachers,
inspire students, and contribute meaningfully to the teaching and learning of science.
