               III.    Definition and General equation of ELIPSE


                                                        The image on the left shows some circles or part of

                                                        a circle centered at F or F'. Distance from point A


                                                        to F

                                                        and to F' are the same, which is 5 units of length; so


                                                        the amount

                       the distance from point A to the other two fixed points, i.e. F and F' is 10 unit. Find


                       some other point whose total distance is with respect to two fixed points is the same.

                       Some of these points when connected to form a curve called an ellipse.

                       Thus, the ellipse is the locus of the points whose sum of distances from two fixed


                       point is the same. The two fixed points are called the focus and the sum of the

                       distances is equal expressed by 2a.























                       If we assume that the point P(x0,y0) is the point which lies an ellipse, then according

                       to definition.
