P. 61

BULLSEYE PRAYERS to do His will. There will be temptations that would require His help so that we do not fall. We must not be as naive as Peter who, despite being warned about impending danger planned for him and his colleagues by the devil, and in spite of being counselled to ‘watch and pray,’ only resorted to boasting about their readiness to do God’s will. Thank God that Jesus interceded for them thereby preventing the ‘failure’ of their faith though they could not be saved from falling into the temptation. We ought to learn a lesson that will benefit us eternally from juxtaposing the experience of Jesus with that of Peter and His colleagues. Jesus saved them from falling out of the faith by praying for them just as He went to pray to strengthen Himself against the tribulation of the Cross. The importance of praying for strength to do God’s will cannot be overemphasized. God is the one who helps us to ‘will’ and to ‘do’ all His good pleasure, and to Him we must learn to turn to receive the requisite empowerment to line ourselves up with His will at all times. Work Out Your Own Salvation Philippians 2:12-13 NKJV Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out 58.
