THE HAUGTHY ELEPHANT
He scurried up along the bank. He saw a
porcupine, rolling and spreading its quills in a pond.
“Mr. Porcupine, there is a message from our king.
He orders you not to muddy the stream.”
“Who is your king?” snapped the porcupine.
“Can’t you see? I am taking a bath, too.”
The fox showed him the elephant’s fur said,
“Look at his fur. See, how big our king is.”
The porcupine burst out laughing. He rolled on
the rock, unable to control the laugh.
“What’s so funny,” asked the fox.
