the population speculate, as all of the investigation has to take place in total

                   secrecy.
It could be any minute now, before Bjørn, as the head of the PET, will be

on all of the major networks to give an update and clarify this situation a little

further, but not the complete one, but one that is more “edible” for the general
public. It would probably contain an admonition as well, directed towards the

people to: “take it easy, stay clam, do as normal” the usual talk. Tom has seen it

before. Bjørn is a master of reassuring the public that everything will be fine,
when there’s been a big serious case, and in which the PET plays a crucial role.

The impressive white mansions, the luxury hotels, the extravagant
storefronts, all of which are usually perceived as a symbol of Danish

individualism, enthusiasm and initiative, are now as a misplaced backdrop of

uncaring wealth and abundance, a stark contrast to the eerie drama that has
unfolded over the last 24 hours.

"The most important thing is that we stand together, united as a nation"
The Prime Minister has completed his "speech to the nation".

Tom turns off the radio, flows back in his stream of consciousness.
He has really pushed to get the meeting with Inge-Lise, even though

doesn’t have time, because no stone should be left unturned. He has now been

close to losing his life twice, in relation with his work the investigation around
Gustav Kräsen. The first time, last year, when some of Gustav Kräsen's people

managed to kidnap him, and now again yesterday, where he might as well have

been killed when the helicopter crashed.
From experience he knows that such a spectacular case will be something

that will be remembered for many years to come, and the people who solves it

would gain hero status. But the thought, though appealing, isn’t sufficient to keep
him engaged. He’s had enough of the job, he’s fatigued physically and mentally,

and money as well isn’t that big of a motivator for him. When this case is over, he

will do his resignation and take some time off to think about his life and
spiritually grow. There is no shortage of offers from the private business world

either. Everywhere they want him, either a speaker or a lucrative high exec
positions, as a head of security or and advisor.
