The attack came without warning. The first bomb fell a little before dinner and

blasted most of the dining room into pieces. Shortly thereafter, the next bomb
fell with an extremely loud bang, paralyzing the communication center.

Am I dead dead? Peter Eberhardt thought of it as he got up after the second

bomb and, and in slow motion, observed the chaos around him.
Scream went through the air, wounded soldiers shouted out for help, while

others ran in panic. Some even stopped screaming. Forever.

He’d thrown himself under a truck that was parked outside the toilet barracks. It
was his rescue. The nearly 700 soldiers who had been waiting for food in the

dining room, didn’t have many chances of survival.
Instinctively, he knew that if Jürgen Hahn was injured or dead, and he didn’t try

to help him, it would have fatal consequences.

Ten minutes after the attacks, he was at the front of the General Barracks. The
door was open. As he walked inside, he spotted the distorted body on the floor.

The blood pumped out of one ear on the mighty man and formed a little dark

                   splotch on the floor.
Decisively, he grabbed the general shoulder and shook the heavy body.

"Wake up, Mr. General. Wake up."
The body was cold. He quickly tried to push Jürgen Hahn's jacket hard against

the blood that was splurging out. His heartbeat was racing, and the adrenaline

gave him extra strength. Desperately, trying to find the general’s pulse. He
fumbled a little. There was still life. With a strenuous effort he got the big man

back to the door, down the stairs, and out of the chariot.

"Help… I need help. The General Major is injured. "
"Bring him to the lazaretto! Immediately."

Private Mark Osten had just got out of his patrol car. He drove from the north

side of the camp along with ten other wagons, as soon as it became apparent that
the western part was under heavy bombardment.

                   "Is he alive?" He roared.

"Pulse is weak. Hurry. Get him out. "
Suddenly Peter Eberhardt could not keep his tears back, and shaking his knees as

he fell. With the help some other soldiers, Mark Osten got the general in the
                   truck.
