the Buddha Knot
This knot represents the heart of Buddha, showing
virtue and giving good fortune to the wearer.
Some varieties of the knot are also seen in Western
culture, although a more pragmatic version, the
Mast Head Jury Knot, is used to secure the head of a
mast in the event one has to jury-rig it. I have never
used the knot for this purpose and I hope never to
have to do so! I prefer the name Buddha Knot, and
