3 repeat stage 2 with a second bight.

6 take the left cord and turn it vertically to pass

under one cord and over three, then under one
and over three again. note that the upper end
of the cord is now ready to return as in stage 7
below.

4 using the left cord end, make a pass over and

under four cords as shown.
7 return down the knot, under two, over one,

under three, over one, under one ready for the
return up through the knot.

5 make a second pass/bight from the left, passing

it over and under four cords again.
8 Again we return to the top, under one, over

three, under one, and over three, just as for
stage 6, and then ready for stage 9.
