6 Here i am starting to dress the knot. Beginning

with left vertical down, tighten around to lower
horizontal, then right vertical, to upper horizon-
tal. tighten gradually to achieve your desired
tension. the grey arrows show the finishing

                   Constellation Knot
The Constellation Knot was invented by Lydia
Chen. This star-shaped knot is an outstanding piece
of art, both by itself and when linked with other
knots. When complete it has an open centre with
loops around the edge. The centre has interlocking – then wrap a bight around that first bight, and
ear loops, while the outer loops may be singular 2 pass a second bight through the first bight and
or compound and vary in number. Here is but one around the second bight. We have now formed
example, with multiple outer loops as a compound our first two outer loops on the perimeter, anti-
                   Constellation Knot. clockwise.

1 first, make a bight, also known in Chinese Knot 3 make a third bight and pass it through the first

two bights only. At this point it is necessary to
                           instruction books as a loop…
undo the bight by pulling the end of the bight
strand through, passing it around the next two
bights and then returning it through the first
two bights. this forms the third outer loop.
