MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT CALL IN POLICY
From time to time, operational needs may require Maintenance employees to report
to work outside of their regularly scheduled shifts. The following guidelines apply to
such call-in situations. Employees who are called in to work outside of their normal
schedule are expected to report to the facility within sixty (60) minutes of being
notified, unless otherwise instructed by their supervisor. Prompt reporting is essential to
maintain safe and efficient operations. This policy applies to non-exempt employees
who are called back to work outside of their regularly scheduled shifts. It does not
apply to employees who are asked to extend their shift at the end of a regular
workday or to report early for a regularly scheduled shift. Non-exempt Maintenance
employees who are called in under this policy will be compensated as follows:
• Employees will be paid for the actual time worked and a dollar amount premium
calculated at hourly rate times four (4), for each qualifying call-in occurrence.
• If an employee is contacted and asked to work 30 minutes before or after their
scheduled shift, this will be treated as an extension of the original shift and does
not qualify for call-in premium. In such cases, the employee will be paid for
actual time worked only.
• If multiple call-ins within a 24-hour period are related to the same ongoing or
unresolved issue or equipment failure, only the initial call-in will qualify for the
premium, unless approved by the Maintenance Manager and the Plant
Manager.
• More than two call in premium occurrences within a 24-hour period will need
approval of the Maintenance Manager and Plant Manager, prior to being paid.
If there is a scenario that this policy does not cover, management reserves the right to
use discretion in the application of the call-in premium policy and how it applies to that
situation.
Employees who fail to report within the required sixty-minute window, without prior
approval or a documented extenuating circumstance, may be subject to disciplinary
action, up to and including termination.
MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT ON CALL POLICY
