            4.  Be’oholah shel Torah  – It is permitted and necessary to stand. Even in Jewish
               sources we find the concept of standing as a sign of giving respect. Furthermore, we
               must distance ourselves from creating hatred.

                                             Aveilut


            1.  Yalkut Yosef  – One may wear black clothes as well as place flowers on the coffin.
            2.  Me’olam ve’ad Olam  – Ashkenazim shouldn’t place flowers; however, one should
               not rebuke those that do so.


                                    Celebrating Thanksgiving


            1.  Rav Hutner  – It is inappropriate to celebrate Thanksgiving.
            2.  Rav Moshe Feinstein  – It is permitted to do so but not on a permanent yearly
               basis.
            3.  Rav Soloveitchik  – It is entirely permissible to celebrate Thanksgiving.
