West Chester University Quad Redesign

probable construction cost that was critical to the first phase
Location: West Chester, Pennsylvania
of the Quad implementation.
Design Statement: The academic quad (Quad) is located
in the historic core of the North Campus of West Chester
University. The Quad is both an iconic symbol of the
University’s heritage and the functional intersection of cross-
campus and inter-campus pedestrian circulation. As a result,
the form and character of the Quad is composed of a series
of spaces and patterns which have evolved independently of
one another.

The services provided by Bernardon included the
development of a concept for new gateways, pathways, and
vistas that was organized around and as part of a new “Great
Lawn” centerpiece.
