Design Statement: Cristo Rey is a network of 25 schools
across the country that provide college preparatory high
school education and work-study experiences; every
student works five days per month for real wages, funding
a portion of their education and building a strong work
ethic for college and future employment.
A budget-friendly master plan was developed for
implementation over four years, as the school adds
one new grade level each year. Phase I renovations gym and fitness center, first floor offices and classrooms,
encompassed 23,500 SF from the basement to four levels a state-of-the-art science lab, and an air-conditioned
of academic spaces and included new paint, flooring, fourth floor library with outdoor terrace. Renovations
finishes, and upgraded HVAC, plumbing, and electrical to the kitchen and cafeteria enable the school to provide
systems. Renovated spaces include a basement-level breakfast and lunch to all students.
