Location: Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania
Design Statement: Bernardon is providing architectural
design services for a 90-unit urban infill development
located at a prime location, directly across from the
township’s new public garage and within a block from
the nearest train station. Challenged with a tight and
awkward site, the design response includes preserving
the iconic stone corner building, redeveloping that into
a future retail destination, and introducing a building
that responds to the materials and scale of the existing
architecture along Bala Avenue while pushing back the
massing of the main residential units. Exterior amenity
space is introduced along the top of the two-story mass
along the Avenue, while retail and the residential lobby
anchor the street edge.
The project is currently in design.
