CHAPTER TEN | Captains Confidential
Scheme
Tonight we would reach our destination, and the ship ride
was going to end. There was no going back, so I decided to enjoy
myself. I wished that my parents and my family could come with
me and experience this time with me. I knew I should get rid of
those thoughts, but they popped back up every time I had fun. I
struggled to forget them but finally reached the point where I
knew I should stop. I headed to the lobby to grab some juice and
breakfast, and the sight I saw was marvelous. The crew members
had made a stunning feast and decorated the ship for the last day.
A smile spread across my face. I found Mrs. Olien, and she gave
me my breakfast. She came into our cabin, and I found Dorothy
awake. Jeremy was still lights out, and not even a sound woke
him. Dorothy and I were ready to hear our morning story from
Mrs. Olien, but she just said, “ Later, sweeties, I have tons of
things to do today.” Dorothy and I were both shocked, Mrs. Olien
always made time for us. Something was wrong, and Dorothy
and I knew it. We hurried to the side of Jeremy’s bed and put a

sleep. I exclaimed “ Mrs. Olien won’t tell us a story!” From the
sound of that, Jeremy hopped to his feet and quickly got ready.
We knew almost everything that happened in Mrs. Olien’s life.
She loved telling us stories and telling us how lucky we are. She
seemed so tense and lost in thoughts today. We quickly went to
the lobby and rushed to the crew member lounge. We could hear
the captain’s voice in a faint and low murmur. We tried our best
to listen as hard as we could; nothing escaped the thick walls. We
ran back to the lobby as fast as our legs could take us and found
Mrs. Olien. She was sobbing, and the only thing she said was, “ Be
cautious, be safe, and I love all of you.” We all ran to our cabin
