Office Counters staff have joined forces in their excitement in the primary schools again by
efforts to support Macmillan Cancer. sponsoring a “farm on a fence”.

The project is aimed at those areas where there
isn’t a lot of open space, and the club works with
the school to plant seeds in cut-down bottles
                                                     against a wire fence.

This year’s chosen school is Ellacombe, Torquay,
and the chosen vegetables are radishes.

Post Office staff (see photo above) raised £320 The radishes were harvested
from cake bake days and collection buckets while In mid – July!
a karaoke evening organised by the Rotary club
and Newlyn newsagent Davie Barron topped it up
by £210.

The proceeds went to the soon-to-be-completed
Cove Cancer Support and Information Centre at
Treliske to pay for furnishings and equipment.

In the past, link-ups between the Post Office staff
and Rotary have raised £1,500 for Cancer
Research UK and, when added to the sponsorship
money raised from Rotary’s Cancer Cycle Ride,
their joint efforts have netted more than £16,000.
