The school needed to rebuild and equip four more
classrooms to replace those in a dilapidated state
and so enable it to obtain Higher Secondary
School status, under the Government’s policy.
The Rotary Club of Mounts Bay provided £9000
towards the cost of rebuilding the classrooms,
which are now complete. With help from the
Rotary District’s Foundation fund, the club has
been able to send a further £1,800 towards the
cost of equipping the new classrooms, bringing
the total sent from the Mounts Bay club to
£10,800 and the school is now able to look
forward to obtaining a Secondary school status.
The new classrooms were built with a reinforced
concrete strong enough to withstand
earthquakes; in fact, it suffered no damage in last
year’s tremor, which in fact caused the
