Puncture-proof containers should be used for sharp wastes. These containers are either
metals, high-density plastics, or safety boxes made of dense cardboard, whatever is readily

available. All waste sharps, whether contaminated or not, shall be collected altogether.
Cytotoxic wastes should be encased in strong, leak-proof vessels or containers.

Inspect all of pharmaceuticals and segregate expired or obsolete drugs away from other

drugs that is still usable to prevent mixing.
Large volume of chemical wastes should be contained in chemical resistant containers and

be marked appropriately. Hazardous chemical wastes of different types should not be mixed as

it could create unwanted and harmful chemical reactions.
Waste containing heavy metals should be collected separately and be contained in

specifically designed vessels and be sent to waste disposal sites that have appropriate disposal
                  methods.

Station waste bags or containers on the facility with particular type of generated waste
considered during placement of bags and containers.

If two types of wastes are mixed accidentally, classify the mixed waste the same as the

more dangerous type of waste in the mixture.

               3.3 Collection and transport

               a. Collection
General, biodegradable, and residual wastes generated by the facility shall be mixed with

the municipal solid waste for proper waste management. Collection of healthcare wastes should

be done every start of a shift. Systematic room-to-room collection before delivering to collection
points shall also be practiced having an effective way of waste collection.

All waste generated by the facility that is needed to be collected by the waste management

should be collected beside the facility (in between the RHU and the Birthing Center). This will
serve as the collection point of the facility. Other wastes that need to be disposed in hazardous

vaults or to be contained in special vessels should be done immediately as necessary.
